This is what it should look like....
I've cut and pasted the profile so that it's about right...
I'll re-import the dives and send them to you...
2nd Q:
So my OSTC would have been adjusting the dive times... and DL used to just add the Dive Times from the two profiles when merging?
But now it's looking at the profile generated, and reading the dive time from that...
So it's reporting 74 minutes, instead of adding 6 + 29 = 35, like it used to.
Correct?
The dive time has always been correct, it's just the profile image that was incorrect... The exit time will have to be adjusted tho.

Here's the logbook with the two dives to be merged...
Re: Joining two or more dives into one
Thank you, I've found the bug. Please download the update zip file again. Now the surface interval calculation should be working correctly.

Awesome!
The profile looks perfect
But the dive time is still reading incorrectly.
It should read about 35 minutes (time underwater), but is showing 45 mins for the profiles i sent you.

Re: Joining two or more dives into one
The exit time is calculated with the dive time, so the dive time has to be from start to end of the dive. When the dive time excludes your surface time, the exit time would be wrong.

Re: Joining two or more dives into one
hmm i see.
But can't the exit time be calculated the way you have the dive time calculation now? but the dive time shown be calculated by adding the two dive times so that it should give us the time underwater as it did before?
And who needs to know the exit time we very rarely need it or write it in logbooks
Much rather have the dive time reading correctly.

Re: Joining two or more dives into one
The way Diving Log calculates the cumulated dive time is correct in my opinion and I won't change that, sorry. The dive time goes from start to end of the dive, it's not the bottom time. But feel free to edit the dive time manually the way you want.

Re: Joining two or more dives into one
But this isn't the way you have had it working originally.
If you combine two profiles the original way, without the surface time, it correctly adds the dive times, even in there are brief surface times in it or there is the trailing 4 mins of surface profile like in the OSTC.
And all profiles that include short surface breaks from my old D4, my OSTC or my D6i all show the same, the dive time is the correct time underwater, not length of the profile's x-axis time.
But with the new method, merging two profiles that include small surface times themselves, it gives a weird dive time, it's a sum of the two 'adjusted' dive times underwater plus the extra surface time from the merge... the result is neither the time underwater, nor the time until the last surfacing, so it's quite wrong.
Having up to one hour added to the Dive Time of two merged profiles is really going to look very wrong.
DL has always being displaying it correctly before.

Re: Joining two or more dives into one
Again, I do not adjust dive times and I've never done it before. I get the dive time from the dive computer, sum it up and add the surface interval. I don't know where you get this one hour thing. If your surface time was one hour sure, one hour is added. If your surface time was 5 minutes, 5 minutes are added to the dive time sum.
For the file you've sent me:
Dive 1: 5 minutes
Surface interval: 11 minutes
Dive 2: 29 minutes
Combined Dive Time (old method): 34 minutes
Combined Dive Time (new method): 45 minutes
That's simple math and I don't understand your problem here. The dive profile also shows 45 minutes.

Re: Joining two or more dives into one
But the time underwater is 34 minutes.
The dive computers do not include this surface time and adjust the dive time to show the time underwater. (Suunto & OSTC at least)
If i'm sat on the boat eating biscuits, i'm not diving
So the two dive times should just be added. Simpler maths.
It'll then work correctly how it's always worked.
This dive with my D6i also shows the dive time is adjusted to show the time underwater... It shows 41 not 45 (Indeed, the hour i said was the maximum hour that you've set as possible)

Re: Joining two or more dives into one
That's why your dive computer logs 2 dives and you should also log 2 dives and not include time on the surface in the dive profile. You can still use the old method if you prefer it. Sorry, this topic is closed for me and this function won't be changed again.
