Suunto Vyper Deco Transfer

Post by phillik »

Sven

Not sure if this me, Suunto Vyper, or the Transfer. :?
I went into 6 minute deco this weekend. I did the 6 minute deco stop and the 3 minute safety as per Vyper display.

The transfer only shows a short yellow dash and just one Profile Data line with a 1 for deco. This cannot be right can it?

The Vyper only stores a "start of deco" marker in the profile data, it does not store an "end of deco" mark.
There is no way to tell directly from the profile data how long deco lasted, except by calculating gas loading.
As Suunto does not release their proprietary algorithms this is problematic.
BTW, had you violated the deco "ceiling" - That would have been in the profile. But the point at which you returned under the ceiling and completed deco would not.

This was corrected in the newer models, which do store an "end of event" marker.
