Request for additional divetypes

Post by @rno »

Hello Sven,

I was just going through my paper logbook to see if I miss something in divinglog and came to the conclusion I miss 2 divetypes.

- Navigation
- Multi-Level

Perhaps you can make it possible for each user to edit the divetypes themselves...

Yes and editing function for the dive types is planned for the near future. I think I can add these two with the next update.

Hi Sven,

if you add dive types, could you include Nitrox and Rebreather as well?

Hi Tirso

Yes, this is no problem. But I'm thinking about if it would be better to make the Nitrox / Rebreather (and Air) option as an extra dropdown field for better statistical purposes. Maybe in version 5.0, so for now it is easier to include this into the divetype list. During the logbook conversion it is no problem to copy this information into the right fields.

Divetype

In my opinion there are only 3 types of dive:
Open Circuit
Semiclosed Circuit
Closed Circuit
(First data subset) with the possibility of switching during dive i.e. CCR to Bailout

all of those types you can perform with:
Oxygen
Air
Nitrox
Heliox
Trimix and so on
(Second data subset -used gases during dive-)

during the dive you can perform:
Multilevel
Navigation
Education and so on
(Third data subset -description of dive essentials-)

just another idea to a nearly perfect program

G'day,

I really like the suggestions made by olafkn.

Could you also consider adding Video, Underwater Naturalist, Diver Propulsion Vehicle, Research, Overhead, Sump, Altitude, Boat and Shore. I know the last three are covered elsewhere, but it would be nice to have the dive types covered in one field.

By the way, just what is an "Apnoe" dive? Is this a language translation bug, or am I missing some knowledge here?

Best Regards, Lloyd Borrett.

In version 5 everyone can add new divetypes. Apnoe is a translation error in the English version, it's now translated correctly as Freedive in v4.0.7
