Error Exporting Excel File

Post by GHDave »

Hi Sven,

I've encountered an error trying to export my log as an Excel file. This is no huge deal since I can export a .csv and use that, but I thought you might want to take a look. A screenshot is attached, which contains a rather long error message.

Thanks, and as always thanks for your excellent work!

Dave

Hi Dave

Have you Excel installed on this PC? If so, which version?

Kind regards,
Sven

Sven,

I do have Excel installed. It is:

which should be the latest version.

Hi Dave

I found this:
If this is not a code related error than please remove below given key from registry.

Steps:

Start--> Run --> regedit --> HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT-->TypeLib-->{00020813-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} --> 1.8/1.7 (Delete this)

Solution: This issue can be resolved by deleting an invalid registry key left over from the higher version of Office. Follow the above steps.

Cause: This issue is caused by a left over registry key if you have downgraded your version of Microsoft Office from either Office 2010 to Office 2007, or Office 2013 to Office 2010 or 2007.
I also found that a quick repair of Office could fix this error:

Sven, it works now!

I was reluctant to do the registry edit, because I had not downgraded. But the Quick Repair of Office has fixed the problem. I guess I should have Googled the problem myself, and would have had I had any idea that the problem was with Excel and not with Diving Log!

As always your support is excellent -- thanks!
