OSTC 2 Tech Edition pb connexion

Post by stryke »

Hello,

My old OSTC 2N is out of order :(, now I have the new OSTC 2 (hwOS tech edition) and I can't connect it with Diving Log ( 5.0.16).
Should it change computer in the list and take OSTC Sport? Or Diving Log V6?

I don't have a pb to connect the dive computer with "OSTC Companion"

Sorry for my "English's Google"

cordially

Hello Alain

I'm not sure if Diving Log 5.0 supports out of the box the OSTC 2. You can try to download the latest libdivecomputer into the Diving Log 5.0 folder:

http://www.libdivecomputer.org/builds/d ... uter-0.dll
http://www.libdivecomputer.org/builds/d ... sb-1.0.dll

Please backup the existing files before replacing them. I cannot guarantee that this will work, but you should see the OSTC 2 listed in the universal downloader.

You can also install Diving Log 6.0 side by side with version 5.0 and try the download there.

Kind regards,
Sven

Thank you for your help

I have copied the 2 dll files to the directory "C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Diving Log 5.0"

In the import menu there are only 2 choices: OSTC or Frog. With OSTC, I am asked a COM port (while the new OSTC 2 is in bluetooth connection) see the screenshots, and in the end it causes an error.

You have to use the universal downloader:

Yes, I do not know how to use anything else to connect to my dive computer. There's another menu?

I've marked the downloader in the screenshot above (red circle). You still need a COM port even if the OSTC 2 is Bluetooth. Windows will automatically create a virtual COM port.

Well, I must confess that I am a poor geek :( . Here are some screenshots of the windows system if this can help

Does not the problem come from the "i" of COM5i

Hi

Yes, the "i" is the problem. We had this problem in the past, but I can't remember right now how to remove the "i". I think this is a Windows driver issue or something like that.

Please look here for a tuturial how to setup the OSTC Bluetooth connection:

Hello

I can log in with OSTC companion, for example I update the date and time, I can update the personal text box too.

There is only one COM port: COM5 (without i)

Can you please try Diving Log 6.0, to see if it works there? I cannot update version 5.0 anymore, so it does not make much sense to spend too much time trying to get it working there. If it does not work in version 6.0 either, I can create an update there that removes the "i".

I think it works, see screenshots. Except that there are no dives in the OSTC's logbook (I foolishly cleared the test dive) :( .
I will regularize the update V5 to V6 tonight. Thank you very much for your help and come back to you to when there are some dives to be transferred.
For the new OSTC 2 "tech edition", it is necessary to choose the model OSTC3+. Could you confirm that?

Hi

This looks good, I would try it again once you have dives on the dive computer. Please note that you've selected "OSTC 3+" instead of "OSTC 2". I recommend to select the correct dive computer model, even though it might work with other similar model types.

Kind regards,

Yes, it's true, but ...

This is the link in the OSTC 2 user manual :
http://heinrichsweikamp.com/media/wysiw ... EN_web.pdf

This is my dive computer's user manual link :
http://heinrichsweikamp.com/media/wysiw ... EN_web.pdf

And that's how it looks :
http://heinrichsweikamp.com/ostc2.html

What's a little different with the OSTC on the front page of manuals  I think it would be necessary to see with HW to know which protocol to use between Diving Log and "OSTC 2 Tech Edition"
