Import dives from Dropbox

Post by erognlid » Sun Oct 04, 2015 12:29

I have trouble importing dives from Dropbox on my W7 computer. The button "Download - Import dives from Dropbox" is inactive.

First I uploaded my dives from my W7 computer to Dropbox and downloaded it to my laptop that is a W10
I have added multiple dives on my laptop and want to sync back to may W7 desktop computer.

I have upload from my W10 to dropbox and get a message from Dropbox saying that two files were changed.
but still the "Download" button is inactive on my W7 desktop.

If I try to upload again from my desktop, then the download is active. But if I then once more upload from the W10 Laptop the button is again inactive.

I have downloaded and installed the latest updates for Version 6 on both my computers.

The XML file that will not download looks like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
-<Sync Version="1.0">
-<File UUID="0E0FE007-7046-49BA-AB64-E9720CC1C079">
<AccessFilename>Logbook.mdb</AccessFilename>
<SqliteFilename>Logbook.sql</SqliteFilename>
<MD5>637B6D241F39FF42C209D81A2F4203D3</MD5>
<DeviceName>DESKTOP-O4IGROH</DeviceName>
<Updated>2015-10-04T12.04.23</Updated>
<WPPushURL> </WPPushURL>
</File>
</Sync>

The XML file that's seems OK - but where the SQL file do not contain the latest data is this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
-<Sync Version="1.0">
-<File UUID="0E0FE007-7046-49BA-AB64-E9720CC1C079">
<AccessFilename>Logbook.mdb</AccessFilename>
<SqliteFilename>Logbook.sql</SqliteFilename>
<MD5>9A58AD1C3B972BC5418FE981917D57B1</MD5>
<DeviceName>bram</DeviceName>
<Updated>2015-10-04T12:23:57</Updated>
<WPPushURL> </WPPushURL>
</File>
</Sync>

Hi

Please make sure the local logbook file (*.mdb) on each computer has the same file name. Also, please start by either copying the *.mdb file manually to all computers (so they are identical from the start) or by starting with new, empty logbooks on all computers except the main computer. That way you ensure all logbooks are recognized they belong together.

I recommend also to delete the "Divelog" folder from your Dropbox and upload again from the main computer. Let me know if it still does not work.

Kind regards,
Sven

When I moved my log to my laptop - the W10 computer I did just what you suggested in your reply. I started with a blank log and imported it from dropbox.

And the name of the logbook.mdb is the same on both computers. But I think I have an ide of what the problem is. I think this is another issue with Microsoft and the stupid Norwegian-Bokmål date/time stamp.

When I look at the XML file again I see this two lines

Do not work <Updated>2015-10-04T12.04.23</Updated>
Work <Updated>2015-10-04T12:23:57</Updated>

So I just changed the . to : and problem solved. Alt least almost.

I had added a lot of pictures to the new dives, but I lost them in the transfer.

I still have them on my laptop, and see now that there is just an reference to the picture file, instead of the picture being embedded in the database. Since this is a totally different issue I'll make a separate supportcase for this one.
