Bug Report: linked dive site (with Dive Log iOS)

Post by Webfox »

When using the sync functionality of Dive Log for iOS and Diving Log 6.0, the Dive Site field is synced incorrectly.
The Dive Site field in the dive is correct, but the tooltip (if you hover the 3 stripes behind the field) shows data and the name of a different dive site. Reselecting the dive site on Diving Log (desktop) fixes the link.

Steps to reproduce (what I did when this occured):
- Create new dive site on iOS with GPS coordinates
- Create new dive with the new dive site selected
- Sync to Desktop
- Problem occurs
- Reselected dive site on desktop
- Problem (bad link) was fixed.

I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this post, but I couldn't find a forum dedicated to bugs.
So I hope I did the right thing and I hope everything is clear enough :)

Besides this bug a great product, very detailed and customizable.
Maybe online syncing in the future? (just a suggestion)

Hi

I think the logbooks got out of sync and Diving Log cannot assign the correct ID to the new dive site, because it is already in use. Please sync your desktop logbook to the iOS device, which will replace the logbook on the iPhone and both logbooks are in sync. Please repeat this every time you make any changes on the PC and before doing any changes on the iPhone. That way both logbooks stay in sync.

So the steps are:

- Change something on the iPhone
- Sync to PC
- Change something on the PC
- Sync to iPhone

Online syncing is available in the "Web" toolbar menu, but this is currently not supported in the iOS Dive Log (beside iCloud, which is missing on the PC side).

OK, thanks for the info.
It's good now :)

Are there any additions in iCloud/web functionality on either Diving Log or Dive Log (iOS)?
Do you have any control over what the iOS app is/does?

We work together as close as possible, but we are separate developers and have our own timelines for new features. For iCloud syncing the major problem is a limitation by Apple, where the developer has to be identical to access the same data. We're trying to find a solution for that.
