Nitek Q can not connect

Hello

Just downloaded 5.0.14 trial which states it supports the Nitek Q on windows 8.1. Everything is fine until I go to download select Nitek Q and connect the computer via USB cable. The Serial port picklist is blank.

Do I need the USB drivers from dive rite? They never really worked on win8 since they were not signed drives. Hoping that is not a requirement for the log software.
