So while manually entering logs or even after an import from my Shearwater log, some of the values are unfortunately with the yellow pencil or free-form text values (such as Dive Site.)
So, I change them to the linked values and hit save and they change back to the pencil-value after the save. Weird!
This doesn't always occur but it seems to be happening a lot more lately. Has anyone seen this?
Thx,
Steve

Re: values changing: linked values to free-form values after
I've had this happen too when entering new values.
Here's the voodoo ritual I use to get the link to work:
1. enter the new value as a linked value
2. save the dive and switch to another dive and switch back
3. at this point, the linked value is a pencil (free-edit)
4. in the drop-down find the linked value
5. save the dive and switch to another dive and switch back
At this point, the link should "stick". It seems this only happens when entering a new linked entry. Once it's in the list, choosing it a second time seems to work fine.
Sven,
You should try this on your side...in the recipe above, take an existing dive and enter a new site via the linked editor (link icon) and save the dive (it shows as linked), then switch and come back...for me it's almost always unlinked.

Re: values changing: linked values to free-form values after
Hi
Please try it with the latest beta: https://www.divinglog.de/blog/?p=1322
I think I've fixed and issue here with the save function. I tried to reproduce it without success in the latest beta:
- Create a new dive
- Click the chain icon above dive site
- Create a new dive site and click "OK"
- Save the dive
- View another dive and switch back to the new dive it is still linked

Thanks for the replies. I am speaking if he values already exist, not on creation of new values.

downloaded the beta. installed.
tried exactly the same.
still does it.
Here is what happens again:
tried exactly the same.
still does it.
Here is what happens again:
- entering log
- enter or select *linked* value for Dive Site
- hit save button
- Dive Site reverts to unlinked version of same value.
Re: values changing: linked values to free-form values after
Can you send me your logbook file to info (at) divinglog.de and the steps to reproduce (dive number and the dive site you select from the dropdown)?

Re: values changing: linked values to free-form values after
was there any resolution to this? It's annoying to change the same 2-3 field values every single time 2-3 times each.
Re: values changing: linked values to free-form values after
I'm sorry, I'm not able to reproduce this issue. Have you sent me your logbook file back in March?

hi Sven,
yes, I did. I would be happy to resend it if you need it. IT seems I'm not the only one with the issue but of course I don't know if there are lots of others or just 1-2. thanks.

This is a really difficult to find bug. If someone has a reproducable case, it would be great if I can get the logbook file and the steps how to reproduce this bug.

I would be happy to send you my log file again. It happens on virtually every one.

Yes, please send it again with a new dive and the steps you're doing to reproduce the problem.
