Set coordinates by selecting location on a map
Feature request
When setting the Longitude/Latitude coordinates of a dive site, would it be possible to have the option of popping up a map window (google/osm/etc) and selecting a location?

Re: Set coordinates by selecting location on a map
Hello,
This is already possible: open the map, then you can add a dive site from a location (right click) or assign a location to an existing dive site. You can choose different map providers.
As an alternative, you can use my external tool if you prefer to use Google Earth, like geotagging with Picasa. See the Extensions section of this forum.
Regard,

Totally missed that feature on you post...
Just added the location of dozens of dive sites in a matter of minutes!
Cheers!

Would it be possible to add a button to set the location from the Dive Sites dialog box? I.e. when we're entering the site details for the first time?
Re: Set coordinates by selecting location on a map
I'll see if I can add this.

Re: Set coordinates by selecting location on a map
I was wondering if there has been any workarounds found to use Google Maps to place/view our dive sites?
It's so frustrating when some of the places in the world i dive are covered in cloud in the Bing/OSM satellite imagery... Typical!
It's a quite time consuming putting down placemarks in google earth and copying over the longitude then latitude...

Re: Set coordinates by selecting location on a map
If you use the google earth tool viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1560 as per Rene. This will save the lat/longitudes without needing to copy them.

Re: Set coordinates by selecting location on a map
Actually there is Google Maps integrated into the Diving Log maps window. Unfortunately I cannot enable it by default, because Google does not want that their map data is used in that way. However there is a "MapProviderSet" registry key in the Diving Log registry settings where you can enable that on your own.
Another solution is to export all your dive sites to a Google Earth kml file (from the export section).

Re: Set coordinates by selecting location on a map
Just had a play with the various map options and I get a generic GDI+ error that causes the maps to crash on any satellite or hybrid satellite map view or any Bing map option (including BingMap).
All other map views work.
Maybe DivingLog understands that I dislike Microsoft?

Re: Set coordinates by selecting location on a map
Do you have Windows XP? This seems to be a known issue, but is probably fixed in newer versions of the control:

I'll see if I can update to a newer build.

Nope. Vista.
Issue seems to be identical to the description in the link provided.
I'll check it out once you make the changes.
