How to modifiy quickly imported data from other diving logs

Post by scubabyss »

I have imported all my diving data from Suunto Dive Manager to Diving log 5.0 which is far better.
The trouble is :
  • There is a large amount of new data (Dive type, water type...) that were not present
Diving spots, cities and countries are imported but are not linked. There are all with an "edit" icon instead of a "chained" icon
    Diving bodies as well
.
Changing this with Diving Log is time consumming and annoying.

The best way is to change directly in the Access data base, at least for data that are very repeatitive.
  • Information sur as "Air" "Nitrox" can be determined from the O2 % retreived from SDM. Just filter the data with built in filters from Access and copy/paste.
For Information such as bodies and sites that shall be linked. Create each separate data with diving log to create the ID. Then filter the access data base, copy and paste the ID
You can of course aldo create Modify/add Access requests to automatise the process.

This is OK when you have frequently the same body or the same spot, if they are all different, this methodology will not provide any benefit.

All the best to Diving Log Users

Hi

Thank you for your tips and tricks! That could help other Diving Log users. As an additional tip for users who don't have Access: You can do a lot of these things also in the table editor, like described here: https://www.divinglog.de/blog/?p=142

Kind regards,
Sven
