Problems downloading Suunto D9 in Windows 7

Post by uw_photographer »

Hi,
I have searched this forum, but have not found an answer to this, yet I think someone else may have had this problem.
I am struggling to get my Suunto D9 to download into DL.
I can get the D9 to download into SDM, but DL does not recognise the computer.

I am using Windows 7 and have had problems both getting the D9 to talk to the PC and getting a helpful answer from Suunto. It seems that under Windows 7, instead of altering "buffer settings" for the COM port to "low", a specific rate is set in USB transfer sizes. I have set mine to 1024.

Does anyone have any experience of this or any ideas on how to get dive data directly into DL? It seems quite a bit of hassle to download to SDM, export and then import into DL.

Any help gratefully accepted!
Thanks
Charles

Charles,
I use the D9 in Windows 7 and in XP.
I am not having any errors.

If you want, I would be happy to go over a screen-by-screen connect to be sure we have the same parameters. If you are interested, either PM me here or email me at terrylowe@megagate.com

Hi Charles

I'm sorry that I can't say much about the downloading stuff (maybe James Connell can help you). But for importing from SDM you don't need to export first, you can import directly the D9.mdb file from SDM.

Kind regards,
Sven

Thanks for your help Sven and Terry. After a series of unproductive emails to Suunto Tech Suppt in Finland  I talked to a very helpful technician at Suunto UK, who checked USB lead and dive computer, returning the D9 in 2 working days with a new USB lead (FOC) :angelic: . Apparently it had an intermittent fault, which is why I had not been able to nail a consistent set of conditions where it would/wouldn't work.
