That is indeed strange. Does the Eon Steel connect normally via USB cable to the PC, or is it Bluetooth?

I found out that the EOS Steel is using native USB and does not require a COM port. Please download this update and extract it into the Diving Log program folder. Then the port list will be disabled for the Steel and you can start the download. Please let me know if it works.

There seems to be a problem in libdivecomputer for the EON stell on Windows. I've informed the developer so he can look into this. In the meantime, you can import the data from Suunto DM to Diving Log.

As far as I know, nobody has ever tested the Eon Steel on Windows using libdivecomputer before. Libdivecomputer uses the libusb library for the USB communication. This requires the winusb driver to be installed for the device. My guess is that this driver isn't installed. There is simple tool named zadig for installing the winusb driver:

http://zadig.akeo.ie/

Note that this will replace the existing driver (if any) for the device. So this might break the Suunto application. In that case you'll have to re-install the Suunto driver afterwards.

That assertion should only be triggered if there is a bug in the code. Are you trying to download from a device without any dives yet? I've build a version with the assert disabled. Drop it into the divinglog installation directory (backup the existing dll), and try again.

The EON Steel will not show up in the upper dropdown box. I was checking in the Device Manager under the USB and nothing shows there. Up above in options in View menu an options is show hidden devices. When clicked the Suunto shows up but is grayed out "not connected". This shows up if the computer is connected or not.

Got any other ideas?
