It is not possible to link 'buddies' to their contacts in the iPhone? Or the best, link to their buddies at facebook. There are many that appear in our club and all have each other as friends on facebook.
It would do much if it were faced with the possibility of Diving Log to link their divebuddies to Facebook.
Contacts? Facebook?
Re: Contacts? Facebook?
Hi,
Yes it is possible to link Buddies to your iPhone contacts. If you create a new Buddy on the iPhone in Dive Log it will offer you the option of creating either an unlinked Buddy (i.e one that only exists within the Dive Log database) or one linked to Contacts (either an existing iPhone Contact is used or one is created and the data is also stored in the Dive Log database so that it can be synced back to Diving Log on the PC). One thing to keep in mind is that, by default when editing a dive, Diving Log 4.0/5.0 on the PC creates Buddies that are saved within a dive as a simple string. These buddies do not show up in the Buddies tab on the iPhone. You can create a Buddy entry that is shared by each dive that uses it by clicking on the "chain link" icon when editing a dive in Diving Log 4.0/5.0 (this is needed if you want to add contact information to the Buddy). On the iPhone, all Buddies are created by default in this shared fashion.
Currently, Dive Log on iPhone does not support linking to your Friends on Facebook. This is a very interesting idea though and I'll certainly take a look at adding this feature to Dive Log on iPhone in the future.
Cheers,
Greg
