Is there a way to manipulate fields on multiple dives?

Post by fribse »

Previously I've used the SmartTrak Software.
In Diving Log there are a lot of extra fields, like altitude.
I would like to set the altitude on all the old SmarTrak logged dives, can I manipulate multiple dives in one go in Diving Log?

Ahh, found it, Table, editing condition, then I can copy paste values to fields, and save them, wow, excellent :-)

You can also select several cells and start typing. When you press enter, all cells are filled with the same text:

Or you can use templates:

Would it be possible to edit multiple dives by selecting a few in Logbook mode?

This would be very helpful. Much easier and quicker than going into the table and editing that (no frozen columns makes it a pita), or by using the templates...

Just Shift select a block of dives, or CTRL select a few random dives, set the salt/fresh, dive center, boat, etc, etc, etc...

Very easy/intuitive.

This is a bit tricky, because Diving Log has to keep track which fields has been edited and only overwrite those. Currently all fields are overwritten when a dive is saved. And there has to be a visual indicator to the user to see which field was edited, e.g. different background color.

Ah yes, i see it is tricky...
Is it possible in the future do you think?
The background 'warning' colour would be a wise idea.

I'm filling out a batch of dives today and could have really used it...
