Driver Installation

To download dive computers, you may have to install drivers for the dive computer interface.

General

For some dive computers, you don’t have to install anything. Just plug in your dive computer, switch to PC connection mode (if required) and let Windows install the drivers automatically. If that does not work, you have to install the manufacturer software package, as it usually contains the necessary drivers. Please note, even if your dive computer connects to a USB port, most computers communicate via a virtual COM port (serial port). After you’ve connected your dive computer, check the COM port list to see which port has appeared in the list. This is the correct COM port for downloading. If you don’t see a COM port list, your dive computer does not use a COM port (e.g. it is using IrDA, Bluetooth or native USB).

I’m excited to see the new version! I just downloaded version 5.0 on 6/17, and downloaded 6.0 a few minutes ago.

I am not able, however to get the Prolific driver to install. I got the first part completed on the 17th, but once I did the uninstall part I couldn’t get it to go any further. I have captured the process with screen shots in the hope that it would be helpful. I’ll be happy to share it, if I may, in the hopes of identifying the issue. You would be free to use the information in any way you find helpful.

    Thank you!
    Jack

  4. divinglog says:

Hi Ray, yes you can download the Predator directly with Diving Log.

  5. Ray Lane says:

Are there any instructions to do this, when i click on downloader, there is no port associated with the predator and can go no further

  6. divinglog says:

    Hi Ray

Please have a look at this post about the Petrel, maybe it works identical for the Predator: http://www.divinglog.de/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2394

    Sven,
I upgraded to 6 but when I download, it takes a long time to read the computer. in 5, it did this and I changed setting to smart but on 6, I tried sol, sol trimix… smartec no difference.

  8. divinglog says:

The first download in version 6.0 will download all dives, so it takes longer. After importing some dives, the next download will only download new dives. Just select the computer type you actually have, do not try different types, because every dive computer has it’s own “last imported dive”
